Acomb men 1 penultimate match of the 2015/16 season was a must win fixture against Leeds 6 which was eventually achieved in a close encounter by 3 goals to 2. Acomb started promisingly spraying the ball from side to side with Stuart Baxter controlling midfield but goal chances were in short supply for both sides. Baxter reprieved well with a goal line clearance after being dispossessed before the visitors who struck with 10 minutes remaining in the first half when they scored from a disputed penalty corner. 7 minutes into the second period the tangerines levelled through Matthew Dickenson from a penalty corner routine and this lead was extended when Baxter crashed home a loose ball 8 minutes later. This spurred Leeds into action and despite Acomb maintaining most possession their centre forwards strike beat keeper Craig Brown to his right. The visitors went a player down and the energetic man of the match Carl Brindley’s emphatic finish from close range with 5 minutes remaining. The tangerines reformed in defence and held on to the valuable 3 points.

Acomb Men 2 travelled to Leeds Adel 4 having much possession in the first half but against the run of play the hosts scored first. The tangerines replied almost immediately through Rob Ireland which was followed by an Owen Wilkie strike 10 minutes later. Acombs pressure was further rewarded when Harry Ellis struck from a penalty corner shortly before the break. The tangerines man of the match Wilkie converted another penalty corner mid way through the half and a penalty stroke conversion by the home side left them with hope but the tangerines held on firmly to leave a 4-2 victory. Acomb Ladies hosted promoted Huddersfield 2 in division 2 at Energise with both sides using the right flank with Vicky Wrigley and Hannah Yoward linking well. Skipper Kerry Woods penalty corner strike after 20 minutes gave the tangerines a deserved lead but this was negated when the visitors unmarked centre forward netted. Early in the second half Woods netted again from a penalty corner strike and the tangerines doubled their advantage when Pye struck. Georgi Wood was a constant threat to the visitors and was well supported in midfield by Rachel Roberton. Huddersfield fought back showing why they had been promoted replying almost immediately and secured a point with 5 minutes remaining leaving a 3-3 scoreline.
