Acomb men’s 1 continued their impressive run of goal scoring with an emphatic 8-2 victory away at Slazengers 2. The home side opened the scoring from a penalty corner after the tangerines had missed some chances of their own but this spurred Acomb into further action with Jamie Robinson netting twice and both Matt Dickenson, reverse stick and a Ryan Forster tap in giving them a three goal lead at the turn. Owen Wilkie’s top strike started the 4 goal spree in the second half with David Richardson securing the sixth and setting up Nick Linfoot for a tap in. The hosts pulled a goal back before Robinson scored his hat trick goal to bring him 10 goals in the last three fixtures and cement the tangerines second place in division 3.

Acomb Men’s 2 hosted local rivals City of York 7 looking to do the double and both sides had chances early on with the tangerine’s keeper Steve Church being on hand and Mark Ellis’s goal line clearance keeping the scoreline goalless Church was eventually beaten by a penalty corner strike followed by a second from a narrow angle by the visitors slightly against the run of play. Dave Timmins precise shot in the 28th minute started the fight back which found skipper Jonny Browns penalty corner strike drawing level at the half time break. The second half had both sides looking to get the win with the game end to end but it was the home side that gained the points when with 7 minutes remaining Brown netted and they held on despite 2 penalty corners for the visitors in the dying minute. Timmins and Ryan Smith were the joint tangerine man of the match.

Acomb Ladies visited lowly Wakefield 4 in division 2 looking to continue their recent unbeaten run and started in fine form with Georgi Wood finding Annie Pye who neatly netted after 12 minutes. This was negated when Jane Elsworth unfortunately turned the ball past keeper Gemma Hall making her first appearance of the season. Pye struck back almost immediately with a penalty corner strike before skipper Kerry Woods laid on Wood to bring a two goal advantage at the turn. 2 further goals from Pye, bringing her a hat trick, were intercepted by a second strike for the home side before Woods struck the sixth from a penalty corner to leave Acomb with a 6-2 win and fourth place in the division.
