Acomb Men’s 1 entertained Wakefield 4 at Energise and the visitors took a surprise lead after quarter of an hour when keeper Craig Brown was bamboozled by a flighted effort. Spurred on to maintain their current efforts to gain promotion for the second successive year Jamie Robinson struck a neat penalty corner between defender and keeper. This was quickly followed by Wakefield regathering the lead from their own penalty corner routine only minutes later. However the tangerines struck twice more before the break through a deft Nick Linfoot effort from an acute angle and a Matt Dickenson penalty corner. The second half had only just started when the Acomb lost Simon Theaker to a nasty elbow injury and thus had to reshuffle their defence. The visitors piled on the pressure but man of the match Dave Bell was outstanding in defence and despite the youthful work of the Wakefield forward line the more mature tangerine defence stood sound and the only goal in the second period was on the final whistle when Stuart Baxter netted a penalty corner strike to leave the tangerines 4-2 winners and a further three points in Division 3.

Acomb Men’s 2 had an 8 goal win over a very depleted Airedale 2 at Energise in Division 5 North. It took the tangerines 25 minutes to work out how to combat a team short of players after which skipper Jonny Brown netted is hat trick before the break. Playing the ball round in the second half much better the tangerines secured 5 further goals, a hat trick from Harry Ellis and a brace from Andy Craig-Smith despite the heroic effort of the visiting keeper who saved endless number of shots.

Acomb ladies secured three valuable points with a 2-1 win over Colne Valley 1 at Mirfield.
